Make money teaching online
If you had asked me 5 years ago whether or not I could make money teaching online I probably would have responded with a perplexed look in my eye. Yet somehow, I found my way to online teaching in 2016. I genuinely though it would be a temporary part-time job for me, but it turned into a full-time job that has led me to earning a higher income than I did as a brick and mortar teacher.
When I first started out teaching ESL online I made less than $25,000 because I didn’t know the ins and outs of the industry. I am writing this blog post so you don’t have to start with such a low salary. In 2019 I earned $65,000, but I often worked part-time so I could have made $75-80K had I worked full-time. I strategically scheduled a mix of part-time hours and full-time hours because I have another business I run on the side (blogging, YouTube, TpT and course creation). I am here to offer you tips on how to make a solid income teaching online without overextending yourself working odd hours. If you overextend you aren’t serving the students, your family or yourself.

how to teach online classes and earn money
Ladies and gentlemen, the Internet revolution is alive and well. 🎉I believe that those who get started now are ahead of the game. So let’s dig into how to teach online classes and earn money.
Why are people doing this? Working online provides people with the autonomy they’re looking for coupled with a market ripe for high earning potential. It’s all up to YOU and how much you set your sights on. Not only is this job great for the bank, but it’s an amazing way to serve people by providing them with a life-long skill. As a second language learner myself, I have a deep appreciation for both language learners and teachers. You, my friend, are impacting someone’s life for the better not just by teaching them a language, but the language that’s used most in business. That means more work opportunities for those that speak English. Sit back and think about how impactful that really is.

Now, let’s get back to business. Right now there are 100s of online ESL schools people can apply to without having a degree in education. In fact, there are a couple of companies I know of that don’t even require you to have a degree. The most successful people in this industry make six figures. Thousands are doing this full-time and others do it to supplement their income, pay off debt or save for a family vacation.
The online ESL schools I recommend are listed here.
