How to Be a YouTuber for Beginners
As a beginner, the first step is getting used to being on camera.
I have never been camera shy, but that doesn’t mean I had some head trips about posting on YouTube.
It is a vulnerable thing to put yourself out there on the Internet, but if you have a plan and stick to it, you won’t feel as vulnerable.
The first thing you can do to get over the roadblock of being camera shy is to practice recording yourself without the intention of uploading. Just get used to talking to the camera. That’s it.
Do it a few times. Watch the recording back. Get comfortable with watching your own videos.
Once you get used to seeing yourself on camera it’s time to make a video you intend to upload.
How long does it take to get used to being on camera? Everyone is different. Don’t pressure yourself. Just test it out and you’ll see. Have fun with it!
What do You Need to Become a YouTuber
You need a camera and editing software. There are so many options out there.
I use my MacBook to record and I use FinalCut Pro to edit. In the beginning I used iMovie to edit.

How To Become a YouTuber and Get Paid
There are several ways to monetize your YouTube channel, but how do you start getting paid?
You need to consistently upload. Why? Because it leads to more views and subscribers. The more views and subscribers you have, the more opportunities for monetizing your channel.
Ideas for monetizing your channel:
- Google Adsense – To qualify you need to:
- Affiliate marketing – get a commission from subscribers who purchase products using your affiliate links
- Sell your own product or service
- Sell merch
Things You Need To Be A YouTuber
Aside from a camera and editing software what you really need to be a YouTuber is a desire to have a successful channel.
I do think you need some personality or relatability unless you’re doing animations or gaming.
You need an entrepreneurial mindset. If you believe in yourself and have the grit it takes to work towards success, that’s all it takes.
